Two Occupy Tampa Protesters Arrested Sunday

TAMPA, Fla.  (CBS Tampa) –  Two Occupy Tampa protesters were arrested Sunday night at the intersection of Dale Mabry Highway and Kennedy Boulevard.

According to police, a group of about 50 protesters gathered on Sunday night in response to the arrests of several Occupy Oakland protesters on Saturday.  The Tampa protesters were blocking the street when police arrived.

Marisol Marouani, of 8212 Laguna Lane, refused to leave the street and was arrested by officers after a a quick struggle.  Marouani was charged with opposing an officer and obstructing a street.

Following Marouani’s arrest, a protester came toward police in an aggressive manner.  Seth Collins, of 8903 Citrus Village Drive,  was arrested after officers felt threatened.  Collins was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.

Police said the other protesters walked to Freedom Park in West Tampa without any further issues after the arrests.

According to the Hillsborough County arrest records, both Marouani and Collins were released on bonds Monday morning.
