Police Find Dead Body in Storage Unit

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve discovered a dead body in a Tampa Bay area storage unit.

Clearwater police reported Thursday that a U-Store Storage manager contacted a family to inform them that they were behind in payment for a unit they had been leasing since 1985. The manager told them that the items in the unit would be auctioned off.

According to a report, a family member told the manager he couldn’t do that because a deceased family member was being stored there. The manager checked the unit and found a casket. Police responded and confirmed there was a body inside.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the body was left in the storage unit or how long it had been there.

The family rents two other units, which officers were checking.

No charges were immediately filed.

What I found funny about this story wasnt the dead body, but that the owner of the storage unit would be so quick to auction the valuables off on a customer of 26 years.
