Teen Accidentally Shoots Himself in Head

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Tampa teen died after accidentally shooting himself in the head.

Police say 17-year-old Demarcus Smart and three friends were hanging out at a vacant home and playing with a gun Wednesday. Smart was handling the gun when he apparently pulled the trigger and shot himself in the head.

Smart died at the scene.

Although the death appeared to be an accident, police are still investigating and trying to determine where the gun came from.
