A scooter driver was seriously injured early Thursday morning in St. Petersburg, after colliding with a street sign.

Eddie Morgan Jr., 25 years old, was riding a scooter on the sidewalk by 31st Street around 4 a.m. He crashed into a sign and fell off of the scooter to the ground. Morgan was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment.

Local officials said Morgan was under the influence of alcohol during the time of the crash.  The scooter was determined to be a Tao Tao Scooter, but was not registered.
