ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The end of the space shuttle program after more than three decades of flights to low-earth orbit launched past Gov. Rick Scott’s shakeup of state government and the Casey Anthony murder trial as Florida’s top story of 2011.

A poll of Florida news editors named the end of the shuttle program as the state’s top story. Scott’s first year in office was a close second followed by Anthony’s acquittal of

Rounding out the Top 5 were the state’s new requirement that government employees to contribute to their pensions and tourism rebounding along the Gulf coast after the 2010 oil spill.
