US Honor Flag will Fly Over Fla. Officer’s Funeral

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — An American flag that flew over the World Trade Center site after the 9/11 attacks will be flown at the funeral service for a Florida police officer killed in the line of duty.

Lakeland police say the U.S. Honor Flag will arrive in central Florida Monday morning. The flag also has flown in Iraq and Afghanistan and aboard the space shuttle.

Lakeland Police Officer Arnulfo Crispin was fatally shot in the head while questioning some men while on patrol Dec. 19. Another officer who arrived minutes after Crispin’s last radio call found him unresponsive on the ground.

A 19-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder in Crispin’s death.

A public viewing will be held Monday night, and the funeral service is Tuesday morning.
