
LAKELAND, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – Lakeland police make an arrest in the Dec. 18 shooting that left Officer Arnulfo Crispin in grave condition.
Kyle Williams, 19, is being charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
Police say Williams surrendered peacefully with cooperation from his mother.
According to a press release put out by the Lakeland Police Department, Crispin was shot prior to backup officers arriving on the scene. He was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center to undergo surgery for his serious injuries.
Lakeland police say Crispin has been on the job for 18 months.
According to police reports, Crispin was responding to a call of three suspicious people on Crystal Grove Lane.
Williams remains at the Polk County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
