Deputy, officer injured in crash while patrolling

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say two members of a Tampa Bay area violent crimes task force were injured in a crash while on patrol.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputy Chris Platt and St. Petersburg Police Officer Doug Weaver were riding in a cruiser Thursday night when an oncoming van turned in front of them.

Platt and Weaver were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated and released.

Officials say four people were in the van, but no serious injuries were reported.
