DELTONA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – When going through a Burger King drive-thru, some people want a Whopper and others just want a blunt and some herbs.
A Deltona man was arrested late Thursday after he and a friend attempted to order marijuana from a Burger King drive-thru. Shawn Porter, 32, was charged with possession of over 20 grams of marijuana.
At around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Porter and another male approached a local Burger King drive-thru. When the drive-thru attendant asked them what they wanted, one of the men responded by asking for a “blunt and some herbs,” according to Volusia County police. Once the Burger King cashier suspected the two men of smoking marijuana, the employee took down the license plate number. About 10 minutes later, police would wait at the car’s registered address.
“It’s not that it’s a major emergency,” the Burger King supervisor told authorities. “It’s more of a nuisance than anything.” The employee added: “I wanted to report their tag number, because they are smoking drugs in their car.”
Police said they could smell marijuana in the car, which led Porter to admit they had been smoking pot. Police said they found approximately 28 grams of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette in the ashtray.
Porter was released on $1,000 bond.
