Florida Officer Charged With Shooting Ex-Girlfriend Who Is Cop
DAVIE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — A Lauderhill police officer is charged with shooting his ex-girlfriend who is also a cop.
Kristopher John Bieger, 30, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
The second-generation officer and Brittny Skinner shared the midnight shift in Lauderhill and began dating while working together.
But court documents said his obsessive behavior of “jealousy and mistrust” drove a wedge into the relationship that ended when Skinner refused to answer his calls and told Bieger the it was over.
Bieger allegedly grew violent after a latest rejection on Saturday evening. After 7:30 p.m., probable cause documents say Bieger found Skinner working her second job as a security detail outside a Denny’s in Inverness Plaza.
From his truck, courts said he sprayed the 10 rounds in his glock pistol at Skinner’s vehicle, piercing her seat and hitting her protective vest. Other shots hit the car’s window, trunk and rear driver’s side door.
While Skinner took off for the police station six blocks away, Bieger drove to a pizza parlor where he ordered food and chatted nervously on his cell phone. Documents say he made calls to family and fellow officers. He allegedly asked for one more bullet, so he could kill himself.
Bieber’s attorney argued for home confinement with GPS surveillance while he awaits trial, citing Bieger’s participation in the community and spotless history, but Judge John Hurley ordered him held without bail on the attempted murder charge and on $500,000 bail relating to the charge of discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
