A high school in Lehigh Acres accidentally blared Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" to the neighborhood late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — It’s the PA system that didn’t stop when you had enough.

East Lee County’s PA system blasted Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” for hours Wednesday night and early Thursday morning after Conrad Murray’s trial wrapped-up.

Administrators told students on Thursday morning, “As you can see, we’re having difficulties with the PA system and the bell system.”

Unlike the tones or bells of old, East Lee County High’s PA system can play music between classes too.  This feature was added recently.

Lee County Schools Communications Director Joe Donzelli said the glitch may be related to a power outage, which affected the system’s timing.

“We do not view it as a funny situation,” he said. “We regret that it happened and are sorry it disturbed the surrounding community.”

He said the issue has been resolved.
