ST. PETERSBURG, Fla (CBS Tampa) - A St. Petersburg woman was arrested Tuesday evening after she drove her car into three people, including pinning a 4-year-old against a tree.
St. Petersburg police charged Nikki Moneque Caldwell with attempted homicide.
According to police reports obtained by CBS Tampa, Caldwell spotted the victims walking. She got out of her car to confront a man about assaulting her earlier in October. Joel Thomas told her that she mistook him for someone else.
Caldwell got back in her car and deliberately drove her car into the victims who were still on the sidewalk. She jumped the curb and struck all three.
Mabel Thomas and her 4-year old nephew were pinned against a tree. Thomas was thrown up on the hood of the car.
According to police, Caldwell left the scene and brought her car to a repair shop to fix the damaged rim and tire.
She was picked up later in the evening at her home and was held without bond at the Pinellas County Jail.
The 4-year-old boy is expected to survive after suffering a few lacerations and contusions to his head, arms, chest, and hips.
