Meet Clearwater’s New Movie Star With a #1 Hit

TAMPA (CBS Tampa) — Most Hollywood stars are usually impossible for the average person to meet, let alone hang out with. This isn’t the case with Clearwater’s newest movie star, Winter the Dolphin.

Winter calls Clearwater Marine Aquarium her home. She not only is approachable and friendly, she allows visitors to tour her salt water home seven days a week.

You may have seen Winter, the amputee Dolphin, featured on the NBC Today Show, CNN, BBC, or hundreds of newspapers around the world, and now her life story is subject of a new $40-million film hit film called “Dolphin Tale”.

This blockbuster film Stars Academy-Award Winner Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr. and of course Winter as herself. The movie, filmed in Clearwater, tells Winters inspirational story of losing her tail in a crab trap and learning to swim again with the help of a prosthetic tail. “Dolphin Tale” is in theaters nationwide in 2D and 3D and recently was a family friendly #1 at the box-office nation wide.

Their hours are: Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m/ – 7 p.m.  and Sunday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. General Admission: Adults – $14.95 Children – $9.95 (ages 3 – 12) Seniors – $10.95 (60+). For $40 you can get your picture taken with this Hollywood Mega-Star.
