Cops: Florida Mom Attacks Daughter With Etch A Sketch

DELTONA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – And you thought it was just a child’s toy.

A Florida woman was arrested after her daughter told police that her mom attacked her with an Etch A Sketch, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Volusia County deputies say 45-year-old Judith Stiles is being held on child abuse and child neglect charges.

The police report adds that the 12-year-old girl was found hiding in a Publix bathroom in Deltona.  The report states that she told a woman who found her that her mom had kicked her out of the house and was afraid to go home.

According to police, what started out as an argument ended with Stiles swinging an Etch A Sketch at her daughter.  The daughter was able to block the attack with a chalkboard, however, the force of the attack made the Etch A Sketch hit the girl in the ear.

An officer who went to the house wrote in the report that Stiles smelled like alcohol, the Sentinel reported.

According to the report, Stiles admitted to hitting her daughter with the Etch A Sketch and that she had been drinking.
