LARGO, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — When you’re drunk, it’s not a good idea to call attention to yourself. It’s also not smart when you’re intoxicated to call 911 and complain that Taco Bell won’t serve you because you walked through the drive-thru early in the morning.
Terry Kimbell of Largo didn’t get the message. Last Wednesday, shortly after 1 a.m., the 50-year-old Kimbell called 911 from his cell phone to complain that Taco Bell wouldn’t sell him Tacos at the drive-thru window unless he was in a car.
He told the 911 dispatcher: “I left my car on purpose, so I wouldn’t drink and drive. I walked up, they wouldn’t serve me, and I just want some tacos. You gotta get a DUI to get a taco?”
Kimbell didn’t get a DUI or a taco, but he did get arrested for misuse of a 911 system, according to police records.
He was released from police custody about 12 hours later. No word on whether he finally got his taco fill.
Taco Bell’s policy is to not let people walk through the drive-thru for safety reasons.
