Looking for a good time this weekend? Don’t know what’s going on? Each week I give you my top picks for a weekend of fun in the Tampa Bay Area. Here are my suggestions for August 12th – 14th.
Sales Tax Holiday Starts Friday
If you have kids the whole weekend could be spent shopping for back-to-school items. Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2011, and end at midnight Sunday, August 14, 2011. During this period no sales tax will be collected on sales of clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $75 or less, or on certain school supplies selling for $15 or less. The sales tax holiday on certain items can save you big time. Basically more bang for your buck and in today’s economy this is essential. For a list of what’s taxable and what’s tax exempt, go to: http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/tips/pdf/tip11a01-03_list.pdf.

In 1998 she won a Grammy for Record of the Year with A Few Small Repairs and Song of the Year with Sunny Came Home, which was a cut from that record. Sunny Came Home, is a song about a modern day housewife’s revenge. Colvin’s song Nothin’ on Me served as the theme song to the Brooke Shields situation comedy Suddenly Susan. Her current album, These Four Walls, is filled with romance, renewal and life as we grow older.
