It’s back to school time in the month of August. In Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando County first day of school is Monday, August 22nd. Hillsborough kids go back one day later on Tuesday, August 23rd. For many parents, back-to-school time involves a lot more than just saying and waving goodbye at the Bus Stop: it can also cost a lot of money too. Here are some ways to survive the cost of them going back to school and still get them what they need.

Any child entering Florida schools for the first time must have a school physical and shots. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child at all times at these Free Clinic’s and Wellness Fest’s and your child’s shot record is required for free immunizations. No sports, Head Start or child care physicals will be available at any of the these events.

Here is a list of back-to-school Free Clinics:

Back-To-School Tax Holiday
Mark your calendar for Florida’s yearly back-to-school sales tax holiday beginning at 12:01 midnight, Friday, August 12, 2011, and ending at midnight Sunday, August 14, 2011. During this period, no sales tax will be collected on sales of clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $75 or less, or on certain school supplies selling for $15 or less. This means you will be able to get more for your money.
